In today’s internet-driven world, if you aren’t using digital marketing for your business, you’re way behind your competitors. Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok are a great way to keep in touch with friends but are an even better way for businesses to reach out to potential clients. Unfortunately, we’re not all fluent in social media language. So today, let’s talk about some digital marketing tips to help you reach a larger client base.
Tip #1: Select the Appropriate Audience
Sometimes the key to successful marketing is simply choosing the right audience. As dentists, we need to know who we’re marketing to. Sure, we work with a lot of children. But children don’t choose their dentist and children don’t pay the bills. So marketing to them would be pointless. Rather, it’s better to target the parents. And where are they? They are on Facebook. They are on Instagram. They are on TikTok. So that’s where you need to be too.
Create content that would appeal to your target audience. If you’re trying to reach families, content that is family-friendly would be where you’d want to start.
Tip #2: Invest in SEO
SEO stands for search engine optimization. If you aren’t sure what that means, all you have to do is conduct a Google Search. Go ahead – search for “top 10 dental procedures” and see what comes up. See the top 5-10 websites? That’s where we all want to be! But how did they get there? Well, through great search engine optimization.
Research shows that only the top 5 that show in a search will be looked at. So if your office is at the bottom of the second page, most likely viewers will not be clicking on your link.
SEO strategies can include a variety of things including relevant blog posts, social media posts, and other inflow. It may also mean optimizing your website, incorporating relevant keywords, and ensuring that all images are appropriately described.
If you aren’t sure how to use SEO to your advantage, there are many SEO specialists out there that you can hire to help raise your Google and search engine ranking online.
Tip #3: Put together a content marketing plan
Today, social media is the best way to get your message across, but content marketing comes in as a hot second. What is content marketing? Imagine you are at home and you are experiencing sensitive teeth. So you start to wonder, are there any kinds of toothpaste that can help with sensitive teeth? Where’s the first place you look? You search the internet!
And once you search the internet, you’ll get an entire list of answers. These answers are called “content marketing”. In other words, it’s websites that are sharing their knowledge and expertise with others.
Incorporating relevant content onto your website can help to boost your ranking on Google, and can help to attract new clients. When creating content, you need to read your client’s minds. What is it that they want/need to know? What are they Googling?
Dentists may, for example, create content about what causes cavities, how to prevent bad breath, what to do if your tooth breaks, and so on and so forth. The more information you provide, the more trustworthy of a source you will become.
Tip #4: Be unique
Let’s be real – there are dozens of dentists operating in your general vicinity. That means you have a lot of competition. And in a world where people have hundreds of different choices at their fingertips, you need to stand out if you want to be noticed. Regardless of where you are marketing, be it social media or content marketing, do your best to stand out.
Follow trends, but also find ways to be unique. Use humor, evoke emotion, and create interest by doing things that no one else is doing. That’s how you will stand out in the competition.
And remember, through it all, be uniquely yourself. Clients want to know what you stand for and what to expect if they choose you. Be yourself and business will follow.
