How to Use Dental Intel to Grow Your Dental Practice

by | Aug 20, 2019 | Nifty Blog | 0 comments

I love getting deals, spending wisely, and making wise investments for my practice. So, when I find something helps me serve patients better, run my practice more efficiently, and lead my team well, I pay attention. One of my favorite tools for doing all three of those things is Dental Intel.

One common misconception about Dental Intel is that it does not do anything our practice management software does. That is not true. While it does coordinate with practice management software, it does so much more than that. Here are my favorite ways to use Dental Intent to build a better dental practice.

Gather actionable metrics to increase production.

While practice management software gives you data, the data Dental Intel gives you is much more actionable. For example, in a matter of seconds, you can find out exactly who left a hygiene appointment without scheduling their next appointment. Give that list to a team member, and they can start following up and scheduling appointments.

Make your morning huddles more productive.

One of the best things you can do to start the day is to lead a morning huddle. When you and your team get on the same page each morning, the whole day runs smoother. Dental Intel creates a morning huddle report you can use as an agenda for your morning huddle.

Two important pieces of information on the morning huddle dashboard are the previous day’s production and today’s snapshot.

When your team knows the previous day’s production numbers will be displayed, it helps hold them accountable for the present day’s production. The present day’s snapshot helps each team member know what they need to do with each patient. You will see who is coming in, what treatments they need to schedule, whether they owe a balance, and more.

In an interview I did of three key Dental Intel representatives in the Nifty Thrifty Dentists Facebook community, including the CEO Weston Lunsford, he let the community know if we use Dental Intel just for tracking numbers, we are missing the real power.

Fill appointments with high-priority procedures.

Dental Intel’s patient finder feature can be a powerful tool for growing your dental practice. For example, one of the best ways to grow your practice is to focus on high-impact and high-revenue procedures, such as crowns or dental implants.

That is where Dental Intel’s patient finder feature can help. With a few clicks, you can search for patients using a number of variables.

You can identify which patients need specific procedures. If you want to do more crowns, you search for patients who have unscheduled crowns. You can narrow your list down even further, too. You could get very specific, such as creating a list of patients who have certain insurance plans, a balance left on their insurance, and who have been seen in your office within the past year. That allows you to focus on patients who are most likely to move forward with the treatment you want to perform.

Make follow-up automatic.

Dental Intel can produce a list of patients who need to schedule appointments to follow up with. Assign that to a team member and watch your schedule fill up. One dental practice recently told Weston Lunsford that they scheduled more than $100,000 in treatment in one month using this feature.

What software do you use to make your practice more efficient and productive?

Dental Intel has many features to help make running a practice easier. Yes, they have reports and dashboards for traditional metrics. But they have many other features that help you and your team grow revenue, work more efficiently, and serve patients better. And they have nearly 100 team members in their Customer Service department dedicated to helping us do higher volume, better, and more efficient dentistry.
