Dr. Kareem Osman might look familiar to some Nifty Thrifty members. He was one of the judges for “Dentistry’s Got Talent” and Smiles at Sea. This week, I sat down with Kareem to talk about his company, Kasper, the world’s first dental practice management all-in-one solution.

During Kareem’s early days, he was very appreciative of Nifty Thrifty for the “thousands if not hundreds of thousands” the group helped him save. Now he’s motivated to give back to the community with a Nifty Thrifty deal.

However, for this week’s article, I’m not going to focus so much on the Nifty Thrifty deal nor Kareem’s service. After talking with him, I thought it was worth shifting the spotlight upon Kasper’s origin story.

Why? Well, I’ve run into countless dentists who are still experiencing the same obstacles he ran into during the early phases of running a dental practice. He overcame these challenges, and his solution might be the key for some of you.

On that note, I know so many practices that have been positively impacted by Kasper’s services. When Kareem started his business, he didn’t know it’d transpire that way. Maybe you have a business idea too, and perhaps his success can inspire you to take that leap of faith.

Anyway, let’s get the ball rolling.

The story begins after Kareem graduated from dental school. Right off the bat, he found employment working for a DSO. Unfortunately, he soon felt burnt out. With limited room for growth and a lack of autonomy getting under his skin, the DSO lifestyle was really wearing away at his entrepreneurial spirit. Naturally, he finally decided to open his own dental practice.

Nowadays, Kareem’s practice is doing great. But, in the beginning, things weren’t simple at all. He quickly learned that all the horror stories he heard about managing your own dental practice were true. While he had the vision, he ran into a problem every dentist faces—dental school never taught him how to run a business.

Eventually, he began to get a hang of the business side of things. But there was one obstacle that wouldn’t allow him to achieve the dental practice of his dreams: IT.  He knew that things would be a lot easier if he had software that could process analytics, schedule clients, measure key performance indicators, and handle all the other practice management stuff.

Kareem found plenty of options for practice management software. But there were two glaring issues. First, all the best software was super expensive. Second, not even the most expensive software offered an all-in-one package.

He was thus inspired to create software that offered an all-in-one package and more. Kasper was soon born and established itself as the first voiceover IT. From there, it grew from his homemade solution to a widely used service among countless dental practices.

Kareem’s tale is inspiring, to say the least. What’s even more inspiring are the fruits of his labor. Kasper is an awesome service. I highly recommend you check them out (especially with all that Heis giving back to the Nifty Thrifty community).   Any startup office will get a special price of $299 for the first 2 years.
