As the year is winding down, I have had many members ask me for my recommendations on equipment to buy. One of the first questions I ask them is do they have a CBCT unit?
CBCT nowadays have so many features packed into them and with pricing dropping over the years, a CBCT is almost a must have for offices that do implants, full mouth reconstruction, and sleep apnea procedures. But even for bread and butter dentistry offices, these units have added features that make them an option to basic panoramic machines.
Rayscan is not just some fly by night company. They’ve been around for over 15 years and was founded in South Korea. At one point they were part of Samsung but are currently a separate entity. So they have the technology and know how to create machines with great images and in fact, they still collaborate with Samsung on medical imaging.
Rayscan is now sold in over 70 countries and since they started selling Rayscans in the US 5 years ago, they have sold thousands of units to dentists all over the country.
So what makes a Rayscan unit so different? Check out my conversation with Marc of Rayscan and Brandon of Infinite Dental Technologies to get all the technical details but what stood out for me: true bitewing/FMX imaging. We are not talking about just cropping panoramic images but actually auto adjustments by the unit to take the best image with the proper angulation.
Did you know that Rayscans can also scan impressions? Unlike traditional intraoral cameras which stitch images together, this is a true scan. Use it in conjunction with your scanner and you’ll have the tools for a perfect scan every time!
The amazing thing is you get all these functions for significantly less than some of the other basic CBCT units out there. But have you also factored in other costs that will increase the cost of ownership?
Most of our high tech equipment will require annual fees and update fees and it adds up to a lot! At Rayscan, they don’t want to get into the business of generating revenues from fees. Nope, they are in the business of building world class CBCT machines. Rayscan is one of the few (or maybe the only) companies that does not charge annual fees. When it is time to get updates? You’ll get it.
Their service is second to none and comprehensive warranty ensures worry free ownership for a long time. I have had my unit for several yrs and have absolutely no problems with it but it’s nice to know that if I do have an issue, Rayscans tech support is available 24/7.
So check out the video and see why I am a huge fan of Rayscan and hang around as there might be a sizzling Nifty Thrifty deal in there for you!
Nifty Deal:
- The typical warranty is 2 years, with a Nifty deal bonus of 5 years.
- The additional Nifty Deal is that the warranty for the tube and sensors, which are typically the most expensive components to replace, will be extended to a 10-years warranty.
